Module 5 Defense Mechanisms

Q Do you use Freudian defense mechanisms? Of course you do! Chose 3 defense mechanisms and give an example of how and when you used each of the 3. Please do not use examples that are strikingly similar to the ones that I have already given in the module, apply the concepts to your own life and it will help you remember them at test time. In this discussion you MUST interact with a classmate. Perhaps you can relate to one of their uses of defense mechanisms?

Denial- I am a big denier. I pretend I don't have problems when I do. My motto in life is "Oh well". I don't want to admit I have a problem because if I do I have to address it and If I address it then I have to fix the problem. I'm not personally a huge fan of taking direct action, if possible I'd like for the problrm to resolve itself. I feel like this mostly stems from the fact that I'm low-income. There have been many times in my childhood when I had cavities, a broken foot, etc. and I just had to wait until it got better. Same with the debt I had in High School, I just waited for it go away and eventually it did. I learned that it worked and that most of my problems would eventually resolve themselves. Has this gone bad before? Yes, which brings me to my next defense mechanism.
